I grow weary
of metaphors about shadows
and the changing moon
wind among trees
and walks in the wood
when verse makes me sick
I prefer to look up
to see my creator's design
the only perfection
greater than words
and perhaps the only state of being
worthy of trust
is a natural one
laid bare before my eyes
more constant than poetry
and unlike this body,
eternal
